Starting with the '60s
In the 1960s, most of history's greatest rock music was being made and even today the music continues to be played. Many artists found great commercial success but many more created great music that was rarely heard or sold. These unknown artists crafted records that were as good as the icons of their time, and in many ways, they influenced the sounds of the music we listened to over the past 50 years. Yet, to a massive extent, they have been written out of rock history.
Through our streaming and live radio programming, we hope FLIP SIDE JUNKIES will give listeners a glimpse of the past and into some of the best music, bands and artists you never heard of and give them the voice they have always deserved.
British Invasion - Lost Bands
The British Invasion brought multiple artists that revolutionized the music industry and changed the world as a whole. However, many rock bands had significant roles during the British Invasion, yet they haven't gotten the recognition they deserved over the years.
These obscure groups fall under the "Freakbeat" subgenre, combining R&B, beat, and psychedelia into a style that arguably counters American garage rock. Though these groups were closely linked to the culture of the British Invasion, they remained almost unknown to American audiences. That's why this article will focus on a few British rock groups that have been lost in the annals of history.
While these artists' lives and careers were wrought with tragedy and hardship, they still left a lasting impact on the music industry, making them an essential part of its history. Thankfully, there are still hardcore classic rock fans that keep their unsung legacies alive today.

All Girl Bands
The 1960s marked the advent of many female music groups that played essential parts in the industry. Though many of them were relegated to being backup singers for the male singers of their time, they still emerged from the background and made themselves stars in their own right.
Despite the smashing impact these bands made on the music scene, much of them ended up being forgotten by the general public. Though some of them are fondly remembered today, they still don't receive enough of the widespread attention that their legacies deserve. For these reasons, this list takes a look at some of music's forgotten girl groups of the '60s.

Garage and Underground Bands
Garage rock groups have been known to fly under the radar. As bands like the Beatles exploded in popularity during the British Invasion, many young people in the U.S. and Canada were inspired to form their own bands. While some of these bands may find relative success, their lack of popularity and resistance to musical trends prevented them from reaching the height of the charts.
Nevertheless, garage rock experienced a resurgence during the '70s as audiences looked back on their music with enough fondness to officially make it a genre. Garage rock also led to the development of multiple subgenres like punk rock and proto-punk. And so, the groups that follow depict some of the best and most influential garage rock bands that unfortunately never got the recognition they deserve.
Though these bands may have been on the precipice of exceptional success, they still failed to reach their full potential like so many promising artists. Whether it was due to their songs not hitting high enough on the charts or the band crumbling under the weight of their careers, these groups never found the success that most groups in their genre could only dream of. Fortunately, these five bands still found success as they manage to configure loyal fanbases decades later.
